Remember when I completed my first mud race? Well, now I completed my first 5K! YAY for me!
I ran the Hot Chocolate 15K/5K in Philly a little over a week ago. What can I say…chocolate motivates me!
Now, I have to first tell you, if I can do it anyone can. No, seriously I really mean it.
I can tell you all the things I am, but a runner I am not. I never liked it, I never enjoyed it, so I just don’t do it.
And even for this 5K (which is 3.1 miles) I really didn’t run so much as jog. And the best part about it was I was able to walk and I didn’t do it alone.
My husband did it with me (yes, he says he does the equivalent of a 5K as a warm up at the gym and wanted me to run the entire distance – haha that’s funny).
Now he can’t wait to sign up for another one. Oh boy.
I’ll admit I have started looking for more events to do so you may just see me again at one of these.
I do believe we could improve our race time though, which was 42 minutes, 42 seconds. Of course, I had to stop and go to the bathroom like 5 minutes into the race, stop to tie my shoes twice, and walked/ran…..oh, well.
I do understand now when people complete races how they say it can become addicting. The feeling of accomplishing something like this feels great.
And it didn’t hurt that there was a little chocolate at the end of this particular one.
Are you a runner or non-runner(like me)? Have you done a 5K or a marathon or anything? How did you like it?
